Project Manager – Civil

( Watertown MA )

Summary of Position:

We are seeking a Project Manager to work in the Civil Engineering Department. We are looking for talented, motivated, self-starting individuals who are committed to a lifelong learning and career expanding experience with Core States.

A Project Manager will lead a project/program team in the develop and design of land development projects including site planning, grading, stormwater management, utility systems and public infrastructure improvements over a broad area from your assigned office. You will also assist, and mentor assigned team members on specific project tasks.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage multi-discipline teams and multiple projects with one or more clients simultaneously
  • Serve as the point of contact for clients
  • Prepare and negotiate contracts with clients and sub-consultants
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations
  • Plan staffing and establish budget hours within project parameters for all assigned staff
  • Manage staff and staffing schedules during the production process
  • Oversee project scheduling for all project related activities for all parties involved
  • Perform and the refinement of the Department’s QA/QC program
  • Assist Director in the establish procedures for improved quality and efficiency
  • Coordinate permitting approval process
  • Manage the financial aspect for all assigned projects including collections, efficiency evaluations, and profit evaluations
  • Coordination and meetings with authorities having jurisdiction through all phases of projects

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organize and maintain project files
  • Maintain timesheets daily
  • Demonstrate an understanding of liability issues related to design and construction
  • Complete understanding of constructability and complex design
  • Develop and mentor staff
  • Participate in the development and execution of the Civil Departments strategy business plan for long term growth
  • Participate in business development which involves attendance at marketing functions and events with other disciplines
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Experience: 10+ years of combined civil engineering production and management experience, preferably with land development commercial/retail projects; 2-4 years of experience managing a staff; contract preparation experience; A/R experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Licenses: P.E. in Civil Engineering required
  • Travel: 25-50%
  • Physical: Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Software: MS Office required; and other design software a plus
