History 
Core States Group was formed in 1999 by John M. Scheffey with the original goal of providing engineering and project management services to the retail petroleum industry. This seemed a natural fit due to Mr. Scheffey's previous experience in construction and development engineering for industry leaders Amerada Hess and Sunoco.
Core States Quickly Became the Go-To Design and Engineering Partner Core States quickly became the go-to design and engineering partner for the petroleum industry, building an impressive client base of leading brand companies. This early success formed the foundation of the company's growth beyond engineering and project management services to our position as a total integrated services provider. We added proven professionals in key new areas, including architecture and construction services. In 2008, we changed our name from Core States Engineering to Core States Group to underscore our commitment to being a turnkey provider of professional services across a wide range of vertical markets. Our efforts were rewarded in both 2008 and 2009 when we were named one of fastest growing companies on the Inc. 500 list.
We Continue to Keep in Step with Emerging Technologies We continue to keep in step with emerging technologies so that we can best assist our clients with advancements that result in cost savings and progressive systems development. This is highlighted by work in the field of alternative energy, which began as early as 2005. We are proud to have had the opportunity to work with such companies as Bloom Energy and Walmart on alternative energy programs such as wind turbine, solar, and fuel cell development. We remain committed to providing sustainable solutions for our clients. In May of 2010 we partnered with Solular to further enhance our alternative energy solutions.
